Domains? Collectives?
Hi everybody! ^^ I'm dai from radiata.org and i wanted to start a topic about domains xD

So, how many domains have you ever had or collectives? What influence you to get your own personal domain?

Well, I only have one which is radiata.org, before i had shadow-cross.net but i started not to like the name after a while and changed it to radiata. Well, having a domain is wonderful, one of your own! :D that is great! Now you don't have to suffer from advertisement or problems in the website. I saw that everybody i knew had a domain of their own and I liked the idea after a year of having my websites in freewebs (xD) and geocities with advertisement and I think having a domain will be a great experience to our webdesigning skills.

What about you?

I got my own domain just because I wanted to. Really! Nothing really influenced me, I don't think so. I was webdesigning, and I figured getting a domain would be nice.

I've had a two domains in the past and I own one-and-a-half right now.

Silent-Echo.net lasted for a year, it was shared between my friend and I. We had a joint collective. It wasn't really named after anything, we just thought it sounded, er, cool?

Heavenly6.net lasted another year. I broke away from the shared collective and had my own. It was named after my then-favourite J-pop artist, Heavenly 6.

Mero-Mero.org is the one I own now. It's onto its third year I believe. It has the same birthday as me because my friend (who I shared the domain with) bought it for me for my birthday. It was named after Meroko Yui from the manga Full Moon wo Sagashite. In the TV show, she would say, "mero mero change!" before she transforms herself to look like someone else (yeah, the show was kind of kiddie, but the manga definitely was not).

Fruit-Candy.net is the domain my friend and I now share (we share a lot of domains, haha). It's first year, it was quite dead, we literally didn't use it for anything. Now it's the domain of our winamp skins site. It's named after a song from the Cardcaptor Sakura OST :D

I only had one domain ever -- Serenity-Skies.net! ..and I used to have one collective called Dark Sky. (^_^)v

Hmm, I just wanted a domain, because it's fun and a way to waste time since I love web designing too much. :P I used to be in Freewebs too with all the ads and hardly any web space, but with a domain, there are just too many possibilities! :D

I currently own...four. My first was Fuyubi.net, which my dad got me for my 15th birthday. I've kind of stopped using it except for hosting random fanlistings and private webthings. It's now replaced by Uzunaru.net, which hosts my collective and random sites. I also own Jinchuuriki.org (my "big obsession" domain as well as the place where my fan art site is hosted) and Shippuden.net, which will be a Naruto fansite... ...someday.

Yes, I am aware 3/4 of the domains had their names leeched from Naruto. Because I'm a fanatic.

I currently own four... :3 I've had 3 in my entire lifetime though. I think I got one simply because it was "the cool thing to do" at the time... ^^; as bad as that sounds... but I'm in love with my domains, and I never want to part from them D:

My first one was tijira.net... I still own it, and it was named after... this inside joke that I had with a crush of mine years ago. My second was shuiyun.org, which died and I never managed to retrieve it; though, it was just a blog anyways, and I wasn't that close to it. My third was frozen-rain.net, which I got because tijira.net and shuiyun.org died and I was sad... >_> [but then I found a way to get tijira back] and my fourth was a present from my friend, seven-bladed.org, named after Sakuya Kira/Lucifer of Angel Sanctuary

queen-zeal.net -- this was my first domain. I bought it in 2001 because I wanted to be able to host my sites myself. Eventually I decided to turn it into a Chrono Trigger collective so I bought...

kuja.org -- my first major domain. It became pretty popular and relatively well-known. By this point I had gotten into anime and manga so I bought...

meroko.nu -- my anime/manga collective.

furuba.org -- I wasn't the original owner, but I was always an original planner of this project. When my friend (who owned it) lost interest, I took it over completely.

jowy.net -- I simultaneously owned kuja.org, meroko.nu, and furuba.org. And then I decided to stop making sites. This is the domain I came back with, and I made the decision to stick to my roots and just make gaming sites.

leknaat.org -- What do you know, I came back again ;)

Yep, once upon a time I was even working on a site for it!

I got annoyed with freeservers and wanted a domain, because they were shiny. I didn't want to be hosted by someone because I just don't like relying on other people like that. I've had more domains than I care to recall, most of which were never really used, so I won't bore you with them all. My first collective was mangarae.net, back in 2002, was replaced by swirling-vortex.net a year later. They sucked, yeah? I currently own dragoon.nu and benihime.nu (free .nu domain FTW~!). Which I hope suck marginally less.

I also own save-point.co.uk which used to be some kind of collective, but which now just hosts a personal gallery and videos for my friends and I.

strangely-possessed.net was my first domain, I co-owned it with my best friend for a few months until her parents found out so I ended up owning it by myself for the rest of the year that it existed.

My second domain was heartbreakee.net which I loved and owned for two years until it expired. Right now I have a fanlisting collective called After Yesterday and another site called Indulge, but both are hosted and not on domains.

I'm hoping after I get a credit card that I'll have a domain again. ^^

My first real domain is sophitia.org. I don't know if I will get another one, because moving would be so much trouble, but I would get one for another purpose (some have seperate domains for fanlistings collectives), like 509am's winamp skins domain
I used to have one that I won in a contest, but I'd better not remember that ^.^

This is kind of embarassing, so please bear with me! XD I was just influenced because of my friend, and the fact that domains sound cooler than geocities.com/whatever!

Peachy-dreams.net - I shared this domain with my friend, it was my first. x3; I made all the layouts for it, lmao.
Sutekii.net - My first SOLO domain. It was my main collective and just had a few fansites hosted on it. + fanlistings
Keifu.org - Fell out of webdesign and just bought this because I loved j-pop more than gaming at the time ;3;
Wind-charmer.net - Still have this but it's a redirection!

xDDD Aaaannndd my lovely - Namine ♥

Holy hellfire, I have a domain history.

starbonked.org - My first domain, I saw a bunch of personal sites and wanted to make one myself.
athenae.nu - starbonked.org was on a crappy host and I wanted to host people and have an intellectual sounding name. Or something.
asperia.net - Was a journal for a while. And a portfolio for a while. I don't think I ever renewed it.
astarael.net - Has been literally everything. I've used it as a major collective, a journal/personal site, and just a place where I stored files.
antigone.nu - I used it as a collective for a while when I got it, and then decided to turn it into my first "game" domain. I think.
valiantknife.org - Because I got tired of exotic sounding domains beginning in A. It's time for some violence!
