Is this place still alive...?

I recently started up a domain collective again, it's still 'under construction' and the sad thing is, the only page that is missing is the page that lists all of my sites! But take a look anyways? It's kind of hard to find time to work on it when I'm in school at all the time. ImaginarySunshine.com! I also can't tell if my font is too small or not because the resolution on my laptop is huge and my sister has completely taken over my desktop...

Hi~! Wow, it's been a long time since anyone posted here...

Anyway, I have a question. I don't really know how to word this, but does anyone know the scripts for site skins that changes according to the time of day?

Thank you in advance! :)

Hi. Names Medli from shattered-memories.org. After reading all the discussions that were happening, I decided to bring one of my own.

What was your first site that started your collection? How did it start so that your site became what it is today?

Mine was a fantasy site that I hosted on geocities.com for the longest time. Afterwards, I started noticing the weblogs and graphic sites. I open my first weblog or online journal a year after the fantasy site and then a few months later my first graphic site. After having trouble with hosts and everything, I finally convinced my parents to allow me to get my first domain. However, they didn't like the idea of me staying at school for the longest times to work on it. So, one day when we had a big thunderstorm and the roads were flooded, my parents gave in allowing me to get my first computer. My first site on my domain was my online journal and my graphic site. Now, I have two shrines, a bunch of fanlistings, some hostees, and much more coming.

PHP
I've never really taken the time to learn PHP outside of basic headers and footers, but lately, I've taken an interest in it, mainly because I heard PHP makes organizing pages easier? (So I heard, in any case). And goodness, I definitely need better organization.

You know how some site pages will be, for example, "info.php". And when you click on a link on that page, the URL jumps to something like "info.php?profile" I wonder how that is done! I've tried to look it up on Google, but because even I'm not really sure what exactly it is that I'm looking for, searching is rather difficult.

If anybody can point me in the right direction, or maybe even teach me, that'd be very much appreciated. I hope it's not too complicated!

Hello everyone! I'm Spinel from Momentary-Thing.net and I just joined here today! :D If this question isn't allowed, please feel free to brick me!

After getting my domain I've tried to upload enthuiast 3 but obviously I've been having a little trouble. I think I have most of it figured out but the one thing I'm having trouble understanding is the 'sendmail' variable. I know this must sound stupid, but what does that mean?

Thank you for your help in advance! :D

Hi guys (again), haha.

As some of you may know ... I'm making an Oguri Shun fansite, but that's not really the point. I was wondering how you get the Asian characters (such as Oguri Shun's name) to appear properly on a site?

For me, I use Notepad and I simply type it in, or I copy and paste it. Then I would save it as a UTF-8 file. It works ... only if the browser's character encoding is set on Unicode. When I go to other people's websites, other people's Asian characters show up properly, but when I go to my own sites, the characters don't show up and I have to manually change the encoding! (Case in point: check out the discography section, it's a mess).

If anybody could help point me in the right direction, that would be helpful!

Hey guys!

I was wondering if anybody could help me. Since I have quite a few character shrines/Shun!Fansite on my projects list, I was wondering what program you use to take screenshots of FMVs/shows/video files in general?

I personally use PowerDVD, where I only press the c button on the keyboard and it captures a shot of that frame, and I simply paste it in Photoshop and save it. It's not very different from using the print screen button, except I don't have to crop. I was wondering if there are any better programs out there that maybe saves it automatically or something? That would be awesome.

Hi, I'm Chrizta from Serenity-Skies.net and this left me curious after k_dash's previous post.

In your very, very early days of web designing, who or what inspired you to create/design the sites and layouts you had back then? Where did you learn your web designing tactics from? :)

For me, I was a really big fan of Vanilla-Dreams.net who offers wonderful photoshop brushes and she had these awesome layouts that were just wow!, every time she revamps her sites. As for learning how to web design and using HTML, I was pretty much self-taught and I'd learn a few things here and there from various websites.

So how about you?

Hiii. I really suck at introductions, so i'll just make it short. I'm from namine.org and just joined recently. x3~ I just wanted to start up a discussion because i'm really curious:

What inspires you to make a layout?

We all know that people get frustrated trying to figure out how to make it look "pretty" and satisfy the public, but how do you do it? xD I'm usually sitting around listening to a really catchy song and I end up naming my layouts after that (then it kind of corresponds with the song - if it's a slow ballad, the layout ends up looking elegant, or if it's a high energy song, then it's bright and bold). Maybe it's a little over the top, but hey, if it can start a layout, i'm definitely going to do it. XD

So, how? :3

Hi everybody! ^^ I'm dai from radiata.org and i wanted to start a topic about domains xD

So, how many domains have you ever had or collectives? What influence you to get your own personal domain?

Well, I only have one which is radiata.org, before i had shadow-cross.net but i started not to like the name after a while and changed it to radiata. Well, having a domain is wonderful, one of your own! :D that is great! Now you don't have to suffer from advertisement or problems in the website. I saw that everybody i knew had a domain of their own and I liked the idea after a year of having my websites in freewebs (xD) and geocities with advertisement and I think having a domain will be a great experience to our webdesigning skills.

What about you?
